Default Transmission problem?

ok something a little weird happened today, i was on a busy street and traffic was flowing smoothly until the bitch in front of me slammed on the brakes for no apparent reason, anyway i was resting my hand on the shifter and when i stopped hard i accidentally pushed it into Reverse, i heard a weird clicking but i immediately put it back in drive (i was pretty much at a stop at this point) now my car feels a bit funny, kinda like its stuck in gear or something. When i am driving normal i can hear the shifts at 15mph, 25mph, and 35 mph, (didnt go faster than 50), when i go into WOT, i only hear two shifts with the second at about 45-50 approximately....this is off the top of my head. Is there anything i can do or check on my AUTOMATIC car to diagnose this and see if anything is wrong at all, or if I'm just hallucinating.....thanks
