Default My painted calipers

I know someone wanted to see pics of them to know more about it. I didn't take any of the actual process but I took the wheel off and took some of them.

wow that's a freaking nice job on the caliper. mine came out like **** compared to yours. I used the $1 paint from Wal-Mart though. I took that you killed a smurf? lol jk. You never really see blue calipers. So you taped off those little holes? I'm going to re-try it again when I do my rears...thank god those calipers aren't on the car.

Great job though man. Very clean spray job. I got yellow all over my rotors...

Yeah, I went to autozone and just got engine paint. I took a lot of time taping stuff off so it would look pretty good. I wanted a blue close to my CAI too. I actually noticed a small bit of blue on the top of the rotor. Tape can only do so much hahaha. Do you have rear drums or rotors? The drums were so incredibly easy lol.

I took the valve cover off to paint it. There was way too much stuff in the way to try and tape around it.

About that picture... The hole in the middle of the caliper there is to check brake pad wear.

Its pretty easy. If you do it buy a new valve cover gasket. My dad said that they sometimes crack when you take the cover off. You kinda gotta yank it off...thats why I think.

Here's what you do:

(Make sure your car hasn't been running for a while too. It will let most of the oil drain back down to the engine and it won't be hot.)

1. Take off the spark plugs(make sure you know what goes to what hole. neons are pretty easy. the long ones go all the way to the right or left and to the plugs in the back. Take pics before you take them off)

2. unscrew the 4 screws that holdthe...forget the name. Its the thing that sits on top of the cover and the wires are plugged into. When thats unscrewed set it on the battery. I left the cable attached.

3. Then go around unscrewing the 10 screws from the valve cover. They don't come all the way out. So dont try to pull them out. Just make sure they are loose though. (btw, they can come out. They are just kinda sealed in with a rubber thing.) I couldn't really get them out.

4. Unscrew the oil cap and yank away .

When you retighten the screws becareful not to strip them. I did that to one. I was using a ratchet and it really didn't feel that tight at all and snap...just make sure they are pretty snug.

Thats if you want to take it off haha
