Default rev limiter

Does anyone know how to bypass the rev limiter on a 2000 dodge neon 3spd auto? When I rev mine in park it only revs to 4,000rpm.

Why do you need to bypass it? I have the same car, and Im pretty sure it'll damage your car to pass it.

whoa...dejavu. There was a post EXACTLY like this a few months ago. Didn't turn out pretty...haha

Anyways, yeah, you really don't want to do that. Unless you engine is completely rebuild...trust the engineers at dodge. All of the limiters like the rev and speed limiters are there for a reason. Also, think of it this way. Your neon isn't even tuned to go past the limiter and the parts a built specificly to the limit its on now. So it will not do you any good whatsoever.

I've pushed mine to the speed limiter, and I will never do it again, until its a modded. I some how blew out three spark plugs. Made it home firing on one cylinder. Not a fun time.

please don't rev or try to remove the limiter... you will ruin your transmission. Do you have money to rebuild your tranny?

(see guys, i can be nice...)

ricer, WTF would be the reason you need to rev higher than that anyway!? (ok, i lied)

was it the speed limiter that was stopping you from reving it, or was the pedal bottomed out?

if it was the pedal bottoming out, its not your limiter, it's your kickdown.

when your kickdown linkage freezes up, it wont let the trottle cable pull all the way out. all he has to do is remove the kickdown cable to confirm.
