Although this sounds like a great idea, anybody that takes a loan out on a neon for more than 3 years is gonna lose their shirt on the deal. Believe me, i did with my 2003 and from that, i will never buy a brand new car again.

With that said, he trades in the neon... will get less than he owes if he doesn't already own it...

srt-4 loan payment + roll over...
high insurance...

If he doesn't want a turbo i say high compression pistons an bolt ons... give him enough to feel in the butt dyno and enough left over to go on vacation.

 

Graphite your a good man, although every neon owner would love an srt-4 like myself having two friends with srt-4s its hard not getting one.. My payoff on my neon would roll over to the used srt-4 and make the price of the srt-4 over 20k. I just like to make noise and raise hell and hang out with friends while thinking Iam going fast...

indeed we all know our neons arent 2.4's unless we get the swap but there still fun, and you can spank on some civics,and v6 mustangs

 

I would look on ebay or srt forums or locally more and see if you can find a cheaper donor srt4 or srt4 engine and tranny. I myself found me a srt4 donor ride for 3 grand and has a perfect engine and tranny and engine mods and mopar borla exhaust its a friends of mine srt4 and im the 1st inline for it . So just debating if I want to do the swap or not.

 

I have seen whole srt-4s on ebay for 3 grand but there are still 3-4 days left..lol
