Default 2000 Dodge Neon Oil Pressure Light?

i have recently aquired a 2000 dodge neon. all was running fine untill about 1 week ago the oil pressure light started flashing on and off randomly. We changed the oil, oil filter,& oil cap (the o-ring was missing) and the light isn't just flashing on and off, it's staying on. What could this be and how could I fix it? Also, if it needs to be fixed, does anyone have any random guesses of how much it may cost?

thanks for the help (in advance)
Alyssa Lynne

if youre not low on oil and you know your sensors are not bad, then you probaly have bead bearings.

YOu said you acquired it. like free?

i had my oil light come on 40,000 miles ago. still going.

Go to an autozone and have them reset your codes. I think there is a way to do it yourself, someone else will have to tell you how.

My oil light has been on for about the last 30,000 miles....but my sensor is unplugged. I have an oil pressure guage hooked up. So if you changed the oil, filter, and the cap is on tight there is probably something wrong with the oil sensor. It only goes on when oil pressure drops below 10psi I believe. Hell maybe your sensor is just unplugged as well. Its on the back side of engine fyi. Just don't check after you've driven the car cause its near the header which will be really toasty after driving. To reset codes just disconnect battery cables. Or there is a fuse you can pull, but I don't remember what one it is. How is the oil level after changing the oil. Holding steady or does it appear to be dropping like you have a leak?
