2001 Neon won't start
This morning my wife tried to start her Neon. It didn't crank over or anything, and a little puff of smoke came out from under the hood. The car has not had a problem starting in the past. The radio came on, all the lights come on easily, the windows work, etc; so, I don't think it's the battery.
I've replaced the fuse for the starter and I've switched out the horn relay for the starter relay and nothing has changed. All the lights come on just fine, but the car won't crank at all, not even any clicking. Any suggestions? Do I need a new starter? How easy is this for a "do it yourself" type job, where could I find instructions?
Any suggestions at all would be appreciated!

i am having a similar problem with mine except no lights come on. everyone keeps saying its the altinator. maybe u want to try to get tests done for that. quest. did u ever have a sound system hooked up to it??
I don't think it's the alternator as my engine won't crank at all. I'd be more inclined to think it's the battery because of that, but everything else works fine, so I doubt it's the battery.
