Default Fuel line and Vac hoses

I have a vac leak. I was thinking about using clamps and 3/8 fuel line instead of my vac...would this work? I feel like I can get a more secure vac if I do that than the stupid 45 bends that come stock.

I can't hit boost! I HAVE A BOOST LEAK!

so do you have a vacuum leak or a boost leak... or both?

Boost leaks are easy to fix... Do you know where exactly the vac leak is?

No, not sure. I was joking about the boost leak, i'm N/A (Slow)

I found a big one earlier, it was the resovoir on my catch can...it was screwed tightly. My idle settled drastically when i tightened it.

However, when I turn on the A/C the RPM's spike every few seconds so I know I have one. But yeah...I don't like those elbows that come stock.

But can I use the fuel line?

you could, but i wouldn't suggest it... Your local autoparts store should sell vacuum line by the foot.

Your catch can comment caught my attention. You are running the vaccum line from the back of the valve cover to the catch can, then back into you intake. correct?

I just find it weird, since when i was N/A, i just stuck a breather filter on the back of my valve cover and never had an issue.

wait a minute... i think i'm stupid. In this pic the catch can is coming out of the right hand side of the valve cover, but as i type this i can't remember if i was using the 01 ACR valve cover or the 03 SXT valve cover.

EDIT: used the 2001

No sir, I am running 3/8 fuel line from my PCV on the far right hand side that connects to the intake manifold. So it goes...

Right PCV > fuel line > catch can > fuel line to intake manifold....

Catches a decent amount of oil

ya, now that you say that... that looks exactly like my pic. I got the breather on the backside. Still weird that its affecting you idle though...

well, it is after the TB, so if it is sucking in air from the bay then that might affect your idle. Although the MAP should pick it up and the ECU should adjust your fuel trims.

I don't know... lol use what works for ya i guess.

Haha, thanks. I was looking at the vac hoses...they just seem to be engine dress ups from Autozone. Damn.

The higher rpm spiking ONLY when the AC is on obviously means something is out of whack, but I don't have enough mechanic experience to diagnosis it [&:]
