I have a 2005 dodge neon and im getting around 19 to 18 miles a gallon. I have NO mods other then a muffler. What should the gas mileage be?

I would get a intake with a k&n air filter and change your plugs and wires . That should help you get better gas mileage . Mine gets 29 in town and 35 highway and I have an auto with a intake and exhaust and new plugs and wires.

Yeah, why dont you do a tune up on it. That would probably help your gas mileage out. You know, plugs, oil change and filter (go with mobil1 synthetic), air filter (or get an air intake), maybe new plug wires, clean up your negative connection on your battery, **** like that would definately help some. Also check your tire pressures, too low doesnt help gas mileage any. Dont do anymore that 65 on the highway. Dont rev the **** out of the car when you first start it, but also dont let it sit and idle a long time. If you want, you could aslo try one of those "fuel system cleaners" thats supposed to clean your injectors and fuel line. I get about 28 - 32 mpg in my car by following all that information. But the best piece of advice anyone could offer you is dont have a lead foot.

I tune up costs as much as you want it to.

ATX neons are reknown for getting pretty ****ty gas mileage. You're going to hear a lot of bogus claims on MPG in the neon community, the amongst their kill list. Speaking from personal experience, with a pretty clean system, I got shy of 250 with a full tank. Cost me $21.13 in gas money. A LOT of it was highway mileage, although i did do a lot of stupid revving and unnecessary driving fast and such.

But in town, without the AC on...I get around 24ish...

I put $20 in wednesday, i'll let ya know on my mpg when the tank is almost empty for a rough estimate
