No it doesn't.

We don't know what the code is. Some people generate the code and it means nothing more than having a check engine light.

Others have huge mechanical failure.

some people said it was an error in the code discriptions on the site (because that's a GM description or w/e) and it ment that the batt was disconnected within the last 50 starts....

Possible causes for throwing the P1684:[*]BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED[*]PCM WAS REPLACED OR DISCONNECTED[*]QUICK LEARN WAS PERFORMED[*]FUSED B+ CIRCUIT TO TCM OPEN[*]GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN[*]INTERMITTENT WIRING AND CONNECTORS

Either way the code has to do with the computer and output circuits...

Call me dumb or lame, but I actually lol'd at that.

HEHE.

But yeah, it comes up at random for no reason sometimes... Nothing to be alarmed about.

The factory diag sheet for P1684 is for battery disconnect. The code is from the TCM. Thats the same on all 2002 thru 2005 neons and PT Cruiser thru 2007.
