turbo burning oil?

Default turbo burning oil?

well this is mostly a question for graphite or anyone else who has ran a turbo...but about 3 weeks ago my car started burning oil BAD.its throwing white smoke out of the exhaust and from somewhere near the turbo...its not really noticable on the dipstick though..any ideas on what this could be

Are you sure its white smoke or bluish smoke?

I think he has the HRC 20g if I remember right...

Oh ya... that's right.

redbirdhky6 - have you checked your oil feed lines and the connections to the turbo. Also take a look and make sure that the oil return to the pan is not kinked in any way. It should be as free flowing as possible.

yea i am going to check for kinks in the lines when i get home tonight. hopefully thats all the problem is

Let us know what you find... if it is it could lead to bigger problems. Blown seals in the turbo, etc..

i only got a chance to check briefly but i didnt find any real kinks, there were just a few twisted spots.thought it might help if i untwisted those places but its still burning oil...hopefully it wont be raining tonight so that i can get a better look, but anything else i should be looking for?

where did you tap the oil pan if it is too low it also cause it too smoke.
but if it aint that
it is probly a bad turbo sealsor head gasket if it is your head gasket you will problybe blowing out alot of oil out the breather.

well i got a chance to check it out and its from the turbo. i dont believe its a seal though, there is a nut on each side of the housin and one side has came loose. seems like it would be easy to fix, just tighten the nut,right...but its not that easy. it was a pain in the *** trying to get a socket up there to tighten it so after a while i just gave up. im gonna try again with some better tools tomorrow, but at least i know where the prob is.
