Hey guys, now that i've gotten a lot of my visual mods done... i really wanted to start going into performance... so my question is this... i wanted to have tranny swap from a atx to a mtx (i've never driven a manual though... but i have a friend explained it to me before...)... So... my question is that i can't find any junkyard around my town with a neon tranny. So i'm gonna start looking online at other junkyard have have them ship to me. So approximatelyhow much am i looking at for a swap to just a regular 2.0 tranny? i know it depends on the mileage, but can someone give me a quote with milage as to how much it would cost? like say maybe how much sounds right for 30k? or 60k? Also is there a big difference between the price for a srt manual tranny and a 2.0 tranny? i'm thinking about going turbo way down the road so if it's a big difference then i'll go regular 2.0 tranny then later an srt tranny... also how hard is it to do a tranny swap? I've lowered my car myself, changed struts, installed cai, installed aftermarket alarm, door lock, power windows, installed mopar lip kit... all myself... do you think i'll be ready to do a tranny swap? or is it way harder than any of those? P.S. i'm really hoping i can finally get a mtx and stop trying to shift my atx to 3rd or 1st just so that i feel like it's a mtx.

in my oppinon getting a MTX over a ATX is totally worth it just because you can say it's an MTX and the fact you will have more control over the shifting

 

Alright, I'm looking at a '03 mtx with 51k and for 290... so my other question is... do you think this is a good buy? is this the milage where most mtx wears out and need replacing? also do you think it's doable myself? Thanks.

i just looked through the list for a tranny swap... apparently there's a lot more than just the transmission... ok... so is chassis control box the same thing as a pcm? I'm trying to find all the list of items off car-parts.com...
