01 Neon R/T vs. 03 Intrepid
03neonRT-right now I do suck at stick just because I have never owned a vehicle with a manual tranny and I have only driven a stick like 1 time, and that was just moving it out of the driveway so I could get my truck out haha...So yea, if I raced him the day I got my car I'm positive he would win because I would probably mess up every shift. But I'm a fast learner so give me a little time and I am sure I would do fine.
mjnd - haha..ok I'll ask him if he wants it. Then maybe he can beat a Ferrari!

I'm a Neon owner, and I've never owned an Intrepid, but I did rent one in 1998 and put over 1,000 miles on it. It had the 3.5l engine I think. That car flew, had tons of room, and handled like it had claws. I got 25mpg for the trip and I spent half the time doing 85.
After 2 years I still like my Neon, but it ain't in the same class as the Intrepid, especially ones with engines above 3 litres.

To answer your question mathematically the Intrepid weighs about 30% more than the Neon but with the 225HP engine many of them have it has 70% more HP. Which do you think would be quicker?
Oh, I forgot to mention that your friend is insane if he thinks he can beat an SRT-4 with his Intrepid. His car weighs 30% more and has almost the same HP. An Intrepid is much better for a road trip, but it ain't winnin' no race against an SRT-4 unless whoever is driving it can't shift!
I have a co-worker who claims to be getting better gas mileage by buying Michelin tires, but I never heard of anyone crazy enough to think a tire can make a car faster. A car will go faster with properly inflated tires, but that's the extent of it!

The Intrepid has a curb weight of 3500lb and with 250HP thats 14HP per 1lb of car. Now the Neon has a curb weight of 2600lb and has 150HP which equals out to 17.3HP per 1lb of car. So which is going to be quicker?
rodge-doesn't really matter because to him, no matter how far the race is, he is going to beat both of our neons without a doubt.
bill-haha, I know he's insane for thinking he could be an SRT-4 in his Intrepid. I have told him this many, many times...but that's how awesome he thinks his car is. His brother has a pretty nice Celica (not sure what year, older model thoug, my guess is like a '95) that hasa couple things done to it but he thinks he could smoke that with ease too.
03neonRT-I never thought of it that way. I like those numbers though. Next time I see him I will tell him about those and see what he says to that. I am guessing it will be something along the lines of "but my tires get better traction!!" haha...although when it come to my neon, right when I get it this will be true because the tires are practically shot. I am getting Kumho Ecsta ASX tires for it. Not the best, but they are relatively cheap and from what I have read they are decent in snow, which is a huge plus.
