Yeah, maxing out on the highway kills people...... ask my 14 year old best friend..... it suxs and is not worht it......... anyways thier is no way out of it if your 2003 or up....(unless you have the driver mod and know how to work a ****ty car)..... prob. a good thing i guess (saves lives)...... but on the other hand, on my part of this small desserted state i can get my 03 quite a ways past that. Just dont do it where you will kill people.

 

I got up to 120 but then I backed off. Apparently the R/T's run out of cogs at about 138MPH.

 

The limiter speed is based off the stock tire rating usually...

Different strokes for different folks.... Insane? not even close. when i lived on the mainland traffic would move on route 95 at 85 miles an hour. What is another 35mph? Also come talk to me when you drive a turbo neon. Going from 80 to the speed limiter takes seconds... you blink your eyes and your hitting speed cut. It sucks actually...

insane, i don't think so... maybe just bigger *****. Insane is when i covered 15 miles in 6 minutes doing 155 the whole way in my little brother's SRT-4.

and to the public highway comments... you guys never speed? Where i lived there are 6 lane wide highways that are empty at 2am. kill yourself? maybe... killing others in that situation... not likely. With a driving course under my belt and 100's of hours of track time i think i'm ok.

When i was turbo i hit it all the time on public roads. It was hard not too. The vid you see above was the only time i did it non turbo... the 6 other times were on the dyno. You can't even get a full 4th gear pull with these cars because of the damn limiter.

 

but whats the point of maxing out the car? unless you are gonna compare it to the turbo or something i can see it being a BIT ok, but really what is the reason?

i think many on here just want to brag how fast they can go, which is very dumb IMO

 

there is no bragging... 90% of neons can only go 118mph. Adrenalin is addictive...

 

maybe with that number posted, people won't try it anymore lol.

adrenaline is addictive but there's is a way to go about those things, example, take it to the track. For some reason i see a lot of younger car owners trying to 'max out" their car, just to impress friends. I'm sure other people have other reasons, like i said still not sure what lol, but thats what I see.
