shaved antenna????
I know im a 1st gen guy but the way i did it and you can do it to any car is to take the fender off. Go to aces or where ever and get a 3/4 inch wide pieace of 16g steel cut about 5-6 inches off weld it really low down where the door meets the fender about 8 inches in. and then drill a hole in the piece of metal and installthe antennaon the piece of metal so it is solid and its hidden behind the fender. cheap. and just my 2 cents.
just thinking logical here...
sems to me like the suggestions about putting it behind the fender, under the headliner, or just behind the dash... aren't all these like putting an anteenna behind metal?... and rendering it non-effective? ..I know from my work radio waves have problems penetrating metal... why do you think the antenna is outside all the body metal?... there was really old-school antennas that you could stick to the front windsheild or rear window that ran along the edge... seems like the only other way since the radio signal would have no problem with glass... or like someone else mentioned, fiberglass fenders, hood or trunk... no idea about the properties of CF and how it would affect radio waves....
