Default Hyperactive Neon

2000 Dodge Neon ATX. I've already noticed that when im driving uphill with the pedal to the floor it will shift out of 1st at 5950-6000rpm.When im goin downhill it wont until 6500rpm. I figure this is normal though. But last night I was driving on a flat backroad leaving the carwash. My car didnt shift out of first until 6850rpm and for about a half second bounced the revs before it shifted to 2nd gear. Anybody have this happen? I havent been able to reproduce this weird shift so maybe it was just a fluke.

Its either got something to do with the tranny or something with the ecu but either way you might want to take it to someone who knows what there doing and have them diagnos it and have it fixxed.

No matter the road, my car will shift around 6500 if I floor it, Im not too sure on the revs bouncing though. I guess check out your tranny fluid level.

i think you are hitting the rev limiter and bouncing off it. And its not your ecu because it doesnt control the tranny.

how many miles are on your car? it sounds like tranny-slip might be ok for a while if it only does it cold.

64,000 miles. Im not too worried about this. It only happened this one time and other than that the tranny shifts smootly. Its under warranty so if it breaks I get a new one.

If I had to guess, I'd say that the tranny is going out, seems like some seals in the valve train are old/shrinking, and aren't sealing until it gets a little warm. It is odd though for the three speed with only that many miles. Good thing you've got the warrantee.[sm=icon_cheers.gif]
