Default R/T exhaust

Hey all,
I was wondering if I picked up an R/T exhaust, how much it would change the tone. I want something really inexpensive since I plan on doing a SRT-4 swap and need to save as much cash as possible.

Any info appreciated.

I say just leave it stock. The funny thing is, is that if you want to go SUPER CHEAP...

If you plan on using a turbo manifold from an SRT, it will mount up to the stock exhaust.

If you don't, you will still (I say still because you can do this with the stock SRT manifold) be able to just buy a 200 dollar 3" downpipe and run it straight from there (until you want to buy a 3" exhaust that is).

If anything buy a muffler like me... but thats if you REALLY want something.

Just leave your stock exhaust on. You'll be faster because you won't care how ugly your car sounds at lower RPM's. I crawl away from red lights because my car sounds like **** in the lower rpm's

sounds fine a little deeper in tone, but did not affect my performance at all. you only increase your rear section pipe a 1/4 of an inch. It really helps the appearance of the car, just be sure to get the adapter kit to step up your factory pipe to the new r/t section

Firstly:

The R/T exhaust is 2.25". It is not 2.5"

Secondly:

Don't buy an SRT rear section and place it on a N/A vehicle. The Reason, it hurts performance.

+

Whether you are going to do an SRT Engine swap or a turbo build and are looking for an exhaust, DO NOT use a 2.5" exhaust. You will regret using it. Turbo's require free-flowing (i know bla-bla-bla performance-bla) exhaust to function as well as they can. Between SRT guys and other turbo'd neon owners, they all say go 3".

My SRT Buddy had a good friend of his team up with another SRT guy and buy the SAME PARTS and installed them at roughly the same time. Turbo Goodies, internals, all performance parts. However, one guy bought a 2.5" and another guy bought 3" exhaust set-up. The guy running the 3" was getting over 300 FWHP and the other guy was lagging at around 280 or so. Needless to say he was pissed.

The Verdict, go bigger for turbo exhausts.

Now, don't guy using my words to justify the fact that we need 3" exhausts. ONLY FOR TURBO's. Plus I am sorry to all of you who have 2.5 inch SRT exhausts and believe you aren't losing power. Don't get me wrong, it's nice if you don't care about what your producing at the wheels. Just don't try to tell me it helps performance wise on a N/A Neon SXT.

I am here all day. PM me, ask me here... doesn't matter. I would love to clear up mis-conceptions.

I have the srt stock exhaust on my sxt now for 3yrs and never had problems with losing performance and who would notice we all have little neons that dont have any performance anyways . If we wanted a performance ride we wouldnt have gotten a neon anyways . I got mine for the looks and sound anyways beats stock .
