And one other stupid question. Will the '02 box work on an '05?

So does anyone make a decent computer upgrade for an '05? What about Dodge, I know they'd probably cost a bit more but do they even make an upgraded computer?

No, there is no computer upgrade for the 03-05 Neons. Your only option is MegaSquirt or some other kind of "universal" tuning system (AEM, etc).

So how hard would something like that be to set up? Would I need a lap top or could I use a USB mini drive to take info back and forth from my home computer to the car's computer? I really would like the control over my timing and fuel system to get max. HP out of my Neon.

To program a MS unit, you will need a good chunk of time and even more so if you need to learn how to program it.

Basically you will be writing your own ECU, so there will be a lot of trial and error, and visiting some dyno's to fully dial in the curves. The unit plus into a computer, so having a laptop helps.

I noticed that they have a MicroSqurit too, it looks like it'd be a bit easier to fool with then the Mega unit. I'd really love to have a set-up with a lap top like was on "The Fast and the Furious", that'd be really cool.

LOL, I told ya'll I was Old School, all this new fangled computer crap to control an engine just bogles my mind. I really miss the old days when you could loosen one bolt to tweek your timing. Now you need to have a computer to plug into your car(god help you if they don't make one) to adjust the timing. Old School, change the jets in your carb to adjust the fuel mixture, today, computer. It's really all so complicated when I don't think that it needs to be.

I agree with ya, messing with my old 442 was very much simpler than today. Not too long ago when i turbo'd my '03 neon i had some of my uncles and dad wondering how the hell i did that and how i tricked the computer. i didn't use a stand alone to run boost. It was fun to now teach them a thing or two as they taught me when i was a kid messing with my Olds.
