I might be getting rid of my 97 neon for an 02 neon, and I was wondering if there are any annoying problems with the 2nd gen I need to look out for. I've heard the 1st gen had a problem with head gaskets around 80k, and this 2nd gen has 83k on it, so I'm curious if the 2nd gen has the same "problems."

 

They fixed something like 100 bugs from the 1st gen to 2nd gen so the 2nd gen is a lot better car. Head gaskets were only a problem on certain cars made at one of the plants, they got a bad shippment of em' and that was the problem. Not all 1st gens have head gasket problems. I think you'll like moving up to a 2nd gen. Congrats.

 

I've got an 02 atx, no problems so far.

 

decent car the newer neons are. Just keep up on maintnence. No problems either on my end.

 

Only serious problem is the lack of power the car has when you turn the A/C on.

Other than that, great vehicle.

2nd gen envy at its finest... lol I've owned both and they both suck.

 

And yet you keep buying them....
