ok not kno toomuch about the engine.. sooo how u know u have a magnum head? whats it look like?
I looks exactly like the non-magnum head... easiest way to know is to ask yourself if you bought an R/T or an ACR. If the answer is no, then there is a very good chance you don't have one. Otherwise, you can tell by the tubular exhaust manifold and cast intake manifold.

ok, well I have heard that when you replace your head with the magnum head you have to replace the computer that deals with the speed limiter. Which would that computer be the EMS?

No, you do not have to change the PCM when you swap over to a Magnum head.

You can tell by your vin, 8th=F=Magnum, 8th=C=nope.

R/T or ACR computer
Stand Alone EMS

otherwise you are on your own.

ok, so I could swap out the R/T EMS. But megaquirt is a stand alone computer option right? So MS will get rid of it?

random question: EMS and ECU are the same right? And where does PCM stand in all of this? I really just lost all knowledge of the computers lol. I thought I knew but now I can't think of what they actually do.

EMS = engine managment system
ECU= engine control unit
ECM = engine control module
PCM = power train control module
ECC = engine control computer

essentially they are all the same. Depending on what your manufacturer refers to them as is how you distiguish between them.

If you swap in the R/T or ACR computer then you will not have a speed imiter. no need for anything else

Ok, thats what I thought. But there is a good chance I will be using MS. Not sure though...I'm going to need something for a turbo if I find that stupid adapter...
