castrol syntech
+1, if I were to use synthetic that'd be the one that I'd use. Since I change my oil ever 3K miles I don't waste my money on synthetic oil. A new Fram filter and 4.5 qts. of Castrol 5w30 works just fine for me. Also, Castrol 5w30 is about 15 bucks for an oil change, Syntec would run me over $30. I guess if you change it every 7K miles it'd be worth it but old habits die hard, I'm a 3K kind of guy.

ugh. fram filters have been proven many, many times to be the worst oil filter on the market. they are nothing more than cardboard inside.

So if you want to send me a case of "good" filters I'd be happy to use em'. Fram and STP are about all we can get around here and maybe Bosch. Small town, limited supply of stuff to choose from.

P.S.
This is an interesting link.

LOL, hey, can't fault a man for trying to get free oil filters.
From what I've been reading changing oil at 3K is a waste of money BUT I just think about all those little metal shavings floating around in the oil that are cutting up my engine, LOL. I may switch to Bosch or STP, both got decent ratings. Fram has cardboard ends, which isn't all that great but also changing at 3K they said that ANY filter would work ok, so which filter you use for a 3K oil change is kind of a moot point. Guess you could not even use a filter changing oil at 3K intervals and be ok. Older VW bugs didn't even have oil filters, they just had a screen to catch the big stuff.

I use a 0w-30 semi-synthetic, why, because I can get it cheap and the 0w is good for the cold and faster oil flow (no knocking in the morning).
If your in a warmer climate 0W-30 is just as good there as well.
Remember 0W means winter - after it warms up its 30.
I hear some are running 0w-20 or 5W-20

Oh filters.........any thing but a fram.

Cheers
