Default Stock radio

Does anyone know what the specs are for the 2001 Neon SE Factory audio system. I am considering replacing the head unit with something that can play mp3s and has a AUX input for my Sirius PNP.

Why would you need to know stock specs if you are going to take it out anyways and replace it with a new head unit?

So I know what would actually be better than factory and so I dont overdrive the factory speakers I have already blown out the fronts with the factory radio

As far as I understand the factory radio is not bad, but if you want something that is kickin, go aftermarket with a amp or 2. I believe that there are adapters or mp3 players that are FM modulated, you can tune your radio to acertain station and pick up the MP3.

damn! You must've had the bass all the way up and blasted it to blow the front speakers!

I blew mine by accident with my sony and I was pissed because for stock dodge put a pretty good system in the neon.

According to waht I have read, that the at least with the newer neons, the speakers are 4 ohms, and aftermarket head units are rated for 4 ohms. So you shouldn't have to worry about blowing them as long as you don't crank it to full loudness. But then again you shouldn't do that with any stock speakers. I have an alpine in mine and have no problems. I would like to one day replace the stock speakers, but they work for now.

i blew my right front speaker with my sony head unit. the stock raidio was loud enuff for me but it broke. i got a new head unit and it works nice. just dont crank it up with alout of bass and u should be fine
