didnt chysler change because the dohc was not as reiable as the sohc

I don't believe that was the case. I think it just went hand in hand with the generation change.

Stop and think about it for a sec. If you're going to do a cam mod and you've got a DOHC engine how many cams will you need to buy? Ok, now, how many cams will you need for a SOHC engine? Which do you think would be cheaper to build and mod? The only advantage, if you could call it that, of the DOHC engine over the SOHC engine is that you can get adjustable cam gears and tweak the advance/retard of the intake and exhaust to your liking, other then that the SOHC engine is much simpler to mess with. JMHO, YMMV.

That isn't always true. If I remember correctly, when spudsterier was building his DOHC, he commented on how much more expensive the titanium retainers were for the SOHC then the DOHC.

$260 for the SOHC engine. That's a $170 buck difference. Two cams cost more then one.

Yeah, I was not arguing about the price of cams, but I said other parts involved in building the engine can make up for that difference...
