12:5 ?! what the hell... i hope to god you mean 12:1 b/c 12:5 would be super duper low compression lol but yes you will need 100+ octane as well as all bolt ons and i would suggest titanium valves and springs as well as a very aggressive cam... but thats just me...

ummm no 12:5 is a ratio so 12/5 = 2.4 and 12:1 which is also a ratio so.... 12/1 = 12.... tell me which one is higher please??

I hate to say it but he's right. 12:5 is a LOW CR

fact states that 5 out of 4 people have problems with fractions

if im thinking correctly.... 12/5 is 12parts air to 5 parts fuel.... thus 12/1 means their is more air making it highter compression..... the more air the more compression......

that's air fuel ratio, not compression ratio

The ratio between the combined volume of a cylinder and a combustion chamber when the piston is at the bottom of its stroke, and the volume when the piston is at the top of its stroke. The higher the compression ratio, the more mechanical energy an engine can squeeze from its air-fuel mixture. Higher compression ratios, however, also make detonation more likely.

and Incase you're still having problems with this...

12:1|--| 12:5 | |
| | |_ _| Top of stroke
| | | |
|--| |- -| Bottom of stroke

Which one compresses the air more?

yay for a crappy example
