Default power inverter

i hooked my power inverter into my ciggaret lighter and it worked fine. i had a switch put into where the cigertett ligher was so now there is no place to hook the inverter up to. i spliced the wires and ran it to the battery. when i flick the switch it works perfictley. When i flick the switch off it shuts off but is that gunna still be getting power and drain my battery at all. i doubt it will but i wana make sure.

It will work perfectlly, unless it shorts out and starts a fire. You should have a fuse somewhere between the wire and the switch, as close to the battery as possible. That will make it safe.

the only fuse that it has is on the inverter itself. there is none inbetween the inverter and the battery.

Goto radio shack or your local car audio store, if you want something a litle "prettier", and buy an inline fuse holder and fuse, same or a little higher amperage than than the fuse in the inverter. Then cut the positive wire about 6-8 inches from the battery and put the fuse in. All done and not fire risk.
