YEA AFTER I SHIFT INTO 2ND GEAR AND PRESS ON THE GAS THE CAR SEEMS LIKE IT WANTS TO SPUTTER OR IS MISTING WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK IT IS THANKS FOR YOUR HELP AND ADVICE (I'M LOOKING FOR A TOYOTA SUPRA FROM A 83-89 AROUND THE MD AREA AM THINKING ABOUT TRADING MY CAR FOR THE SUPRA THANKS AGAIN BOB

 

What RPM are you shifting into 2nd when you have the "sputter"?

 

any where from 2500 to 3000 grand

 

does the check engine light blink? if it does you might need new plugs/wires b/c you are missfiring.... can you give us any more details?

 

Try plugs, that always helps the sputter

 

lets see here i had just replaced the spark plugs/wires about 5000 miles ago and i dont get any check engine light at all do you think it is time for new plugs already

 

well the problem could be your shifting between 2500 and 3 million rpms... do you have VTEC like adionik? but seriously... i just wanted to make a joke here...

If what your experiencing is just like a lag in acceleration once you shift, its "normal" for a decent number of Neons. The 2003 R/T's that had this problem (mine included) were able to get a PCM reflash that fixed the issue, but I'm not sure if it applies to other year Neons. The easiest way to not notice the lag without spending any money is to just shift at a slightly higher RPM...
