The biggest boost I got was a Crane cam and increasing the dynamic compression ratio to 8.5:1. I changed the intake and exhaust and didn'tfeel much difference. Working onthe head really helped, you may need to polish the domesto prevent detonation also.

There isn't enough room to bore for a displacement increase... you can stroke it to 2.2l with a kit though.

Super small until you put it in perspective and take a look at the cylinder walls and how much room is really there. Your standard .020ā€ and .040ā€ bores can be done. These are used usually to eliminate and cylinder wall scoring done by the normal wear and tear of the pistons and nothing more.

2.0l = 122.0 cubic inches (2000 cc)
2.1l = 128.1 cubic inches (2100 cc)
2.2l = 134.2 cubic inches (2200 cc)

On the 2.2l that is 12.2 cubic inches of cylinder wall that needs to be removed. That is 3.05 cubic inches on each cylinder. In comparison to a .020ā€ or .040ā€ over bore it is HUGE. I’m pretty sure the stroked kit requires a bit of overbore but most of increase comes from increasing the stroke of the piston.
