IAC? PCV? or MAP? Which to try first??
I need help. I have a 01 dodge neon es automatic. The misses was driving it home last night and said that the rpms began rising and falling erraticly. I attempted to start it this morning when I got home and the situation seems pretty bad. The idle is terribly erratic! Up and down, poping coming from the engine. So I did some reading up, did the key dance and got a code 1299 which I foundhas something to do with a vaccum leak, IAC, or MAP not corrosponding with thethrottle position correctlyand I'm figuring (please chime in if I'm wrong) that it's either IAC, PCV, or the MAP sensor gone bad? Now, here's the kicker. I called the auto place and they offer the IAC $173.36 will be here by Wed. next week if I order today. PCV $13.13 will be here by Wed. next week if I order today. MAP $97.62 can get that by tomorrow. The IAC is also not refundable. PLEASE!!! Which should I replace first?!?! Am I going in the wrong direction?? Opinions needed ASAP!! And thank you for any who take their time to read and reply. B.
Thanks for the replys guys. Upon further inspection, it turned out that the link tube between the tb and the mani had come loose!! So I re-tightened it, and no problemo!
