My sister's BF has a 01 neon that I looked at tonight and found the starter is not engaging correctly (you have turn the key 5-15 times to get it to catch and start). According to partsamerica.com, you cannot get just the solenoid. Is this true? Also anyone have any tips on doing the starter?

 

sounds like its the starter bendix that is malfunctioning.
