you're an ATX you DONT want to rev it past 4k it will damage it. even reving it up to 4k RPM isnt good

105 MPH? the speed limiter is 118-120 MPH....

there's a few ways to do it... with a resister, I think, but it will throw your spedo off. Or Megasquirt. or get another car

without any mods you dont want to go past 120 with a stock 2.0L engine, it will start breakin things. and unless you have mods you wont reach close to 120 on a 1/4 mile (even with alot of mods you wont even get close to that). going any faster than 120 on a public road is suicide (past the speed limit can be considered suicide) I've done it plenty of times though. it's fun, but is EXTREMELY suicidal

There is not reason to bypass it, it is set to run at that. Anything more and things will start breaking. Your top speed should be 127 and rpms should be around 6.5k. Unless your in park or neutral then its 4k.

SXT PCMs are limited to 118-120 MPH. R/Ts are 127-130 MPH limited by the rev limiter

Reasons:

[ul][*]Speed is electronically limited 118mph due to the stock tire rating.[*]Transmission is not strong enough to rev that high without a load on it.[/ul]
Opinions:

[ul][*]needing to rev past 4000k is lame.[*]If you have enough power, a 118mph tap speed in the 1/4 mile will land you in the mid 11's. You are no where close to that time or power so anyting over is useless.[/ul]

Oh this brings back memories. I think this was my first post ever on here. I got yelled at similairly. I found out about my 4,000 rpm rev limiter when I bought my exhaust. Was kinda upset I couldn't rev it all the way to hear the sound. You say your car wont go past 105??? It probably just seems that way. Get up to 105. Then keep drivin for about 5 more minutes then check it again. Now you might be doin 106!

Isn't the rpm limiter in the SXT's with a MTX at 6750rpm? Either way I've never been past 6K rpm so I've still got room at the top if I need it. As far as speed goes. Even with a tire upgrade Neons get scary at around 105mph(fastest I've been in my car so far) so at 120mph I'd say you'd not really want to go any faster. And as has been stated, in an 1/8th or 1/4 mile you'll be luckey to see the low side of 90mph with a modded car let alone something that's close to stock so that still gives you 30mph to play with.

on my MTX I have gone 120mph with out any problems. Im thinking about getting the AFX pcm to raise my rev limiter and top speed.

OVER 120.... is just kinda dumb to me.....118 is quick enough, and wherer u going to have a ten mile stretch to get an auto neon to 118 anyway....LOL......
