tranny??
hi all, last night i was driving down the freeway at 70 mph when all of a sudden the engine started revving up because my foot was on the gas, i thought i had bumped it into nuetral or something but it was in drive. i would just revv up like it was in nuetral. so i coasted to the bottom of the hill , then at ther bottom of the hill it just was workung fine. im baffled, could this be a sign of a faulty transmission or maybe just low on fluid maybe?? any feedback would help

RE: tranny??
Thanks all for your responses... sorry about the delay in this response but been workin hella hours and borrowing lots of cars till mine was fixed. lol but anyway the problem was actually very simple, i had replaced an alternator bout a week ago and we broke the plug that goes into the alternator so i had to get another plugand when we spliced the wires together one of the wires had a bad connection, therfore the alternator wasnt working right and it was draining my battery, and dodge was one of the first car manufacturers to comeout with the electronic transmission so it shut down the drive train... thanks tho to all the rersponses, this is a good forum thx

RE: tranny??
Well yes there is a way to check your engine codes. You put the key in the ignition and turn it till the lights and beepy warning fuse thing beeps, do that three times or four (Click it three or four times fast, not turning it over.)... and it should list some sets of codes, Look to the odometer to see if there are any things that show up. An example would be, P1299 or something along those lines. If the instructions i listed dont work, even i cant get it to work all the time then try a google search for dodge neon engine codes and it should be able to tell you how to get any engine code to be displayed on the odometer. Dodge has been doing that for years on all their vehicles with electronic odomters. The only reason i knew this is cause one of my friends who rebuilt a daytona from the ground up showed me how to find out whats wrong in the engine when i was having idle and driving issues. Hopefully this helps better than the take it to autozone answer and general lack of knowledge about engie code testing. I'm no expert and i found out how to check by doing a small bit of research. Like i said if the instruction of "clicking" the ignition three time doesnt work look for it on a google search, dodge neon engine codes, or something along that line. Good luck! Oh and my car did that too but it made a really loud whining noise when my tranny blew out. So watch for signs of it getting worse!!
