Default Help please

Hi
i have a 2002 neon 2l automatic, in South Africa they are sold under Chrysler. for the last couple of weeks my car has been doing some funny stuff, sometimes the instruments on the dash does not work (to make it work i just disconnect the negative on the battery) however once the instruments are working the front indicator/signal lights starts messing. as soon as you release the handbrake to drive of they switch on permanantly (only the front one's) they still however do indicate.

Is there any one out there that cold help, pleaze

Wow... ZA i'm not totally sure what that could be... Is your car under any warranty with Chrysler? It deffentally electrical.. sounds like it could be the computer (PCM) in your car. When you release the handbrake, that sounds like your front indicators are being used as a daytime running light, that could be your short there... IDK really with out visually seeing it, and I'm not sure if I'll ever be in S.Africia... I'll keep on thinking on that one....

no warranty in SA they only have 3 years or 60,000 km warranty (+/- 37,000 miles) i also think that it could be the PCM, what would the price be of a new one in the states in SA it would be +/- R4,700 that would be +/- $587.50 without the cost of programming it.

I know that the PCM's are not cheap... I have never has to replace mine... You might be able to get a aftermarket one cheaper than the dealership, since I would have to say the Dealership is the Devil..... They jack up the cost about 200% from the cost... You could alway check any Junk yards / salavge for a damaged Neon, and pull the PCM there... clean it up and give it a shot... If i'm correct here you can pull one for 50 -100 bucks (USD) and then get if flashed to your car at the dealer... I would try that route... and if all fails, then buy a new one from the dealer...

Good Luck!! I hope that this helped out at all..
