Default Trunk Lock not working...

My Trunk key does not work in the lock anymore. Since I have a bare-bones model w/no cab trunk release my only way to open the trunk is through the backseat and then pulling the emergency release lever.

My question(s)
Since it will cost me $$ to get a new cylinder and replace/rekey it - would it be just as cheap/easy to get a kit to allow for a release lever in the cab? If so how do I install it?

Or could I just get another cylinder at a junk yard - if so do I still need to re-key it?

Thanx

Im pretty sure I still have the whole lock set up from my new trunk lid, its the non-electric version. I don't need it, so if you want it, I'll let it go cheaply.

Well, does the key not turn when you put it in like its stuck?? I got some subs in my trunk and i think that it rattled it around so much that the lock occasionally "freezes", when this happens i just hit the top by the third brake light and push down with my hand and turn the key at the same time. Try that and if that doesnt work i dont know what to tell ya. And about getting a new cylindar, you should ask your nearest dodge dealership about what to do. Only suggestions though.

the dealer will ALWAYS tell you you need to buy something... if i were you i'd buy a linear actuator and wire it to a button switch that you wire to the battery and just attach the linear actuator to that little cable before the handle or you can just cut it before then and go from there.... either way thats what i'd do if i were you

I called my local dodge dealer and they said its like 23 bucks for a new one. Where it might get you is the price of taking the cylinder to a locksmith and having them make your old key work. What i did is found a guy parting a 02 neon and i bought that and a fender. Thats a way you can go, you will have 2 keys...big deal and its super easy to swap out.
