2001 Neon Head unit 4cd changer

2001 Neon Head unit 4cd changer
I have a 2001 Neon with factory AM/FM Cassette and 4 CD changer. The problem is that the head unit resets it’s memory, clock to 12:00 and sets Volume to low whenever I press scan or seek to change stations.
I have another head unit that is suppose to fit however, even though the front panel is identical the rear plug locations are rearranged. There must have been a mid production change up. I did read somewhere that the 2000-2002 head unit changed in mid 2002.
Anyone know if this will plug and play with my existing 4cd changer?
