Engine swap
First off, hi to everyone here, I am a newbie. Second off, let me apologize, I am sure this subject has been posted about a million times, butI am not in the mood to go through hundreds of threads to find the answer I am looking for, lol.
My question is this...I have a 2000 2.0 sohc Neon, it is still running, tho has typical piston slap, but we have been looking to replace the engine, and the different options we might have. Today a 2001 PT 2.4 popped up, and I was wondering how much of a pain in the a$$ it is to do this swap. What needs to be done? Do the computers need to be swapped? Will my 3 speed auto bolt up to it still? It comes with a 5 speed, but I don't know if I really want to do that swap yet. How about the turbo? This one doesn't have it, but are the turbo's any good? If anything, it would just be nice to have a motor that isn't knocking, and leave me wondering if it is going to make it home again, but if it goes better, I am not complaining!!! (not exactly a fast car with the auto behind it) Thanks in advance!

WOW lots of questions... lets see here...
1. the 2.4 is a good choice, but is it just the engine or does it come with all the wireing to?? You should have no problem putting the engine in, u just have to make sure that the wireing harness is there and then you will need to re-flash teh PCM to work with the keys if i'm not mistaken.
2. As for the transmission, I'm not totally sure on what can be done, but if you are doing the motor swap, might as well put the 5 speed in since you already have the engine and tranny out. The TD04 (SRT) turbo is nice, that is what I'm putting on my R/T shortly, and I have heard no real issues with it.
I hope that this might help, also I would jump on www.2gn.org too. on the forums, the have a whole How To section that could help you out... Good Luck!!!!

Thanks Nate! Honestly, I haven't even contacted teh number yet to see if the wiring harness is included. I wasn't going to even bother til we knew how hard the swap would be, and if it is going to be worth it.
