Default RE: Bumper fixed!

ORIGINAL: eaks

hey man.. can you give me some info on how to do this? i have a few spots on my car i wanna touch up but the one i need to sand is where some *** *** kid form school keyed my car.. its on my rear 1/4 panal and it looks like it didn't go threw to the paint.. and its just into the clear coat (but i could be wronge)..

So i just get 2000gritt sand papper, then dip it in soapy water, then sand, sand, sand?? Then did u paint it back or did u just sand threw the clear and a layer of paint or something?

And after did you go over it with some of the spray on clear coat and wax??

Please let me know so i can fix that key mark..

And one more question.. how much of the surrounding area did you need to sand as well?

Thanks again man!
I don'tknow for sure it will work for you because i had 2 layers of paint on the bumper but i'll still tell you.

Pick up some 2000 grit sandpaper( i found it at walmart, auto isle)
you are also going to need wax, and car soap.
1st.
-I sprayed down the part of the car where i was going to sand with water.
-I filled a bucket full of soapy water and let the and paper soak for a min, while it soaks take a sponge and go over the surface with the soapy water.
2nd.
-start wet sanding, it may take a while to get through the clear coats and layers of wax on your car( when you start to see the color coming off start to sand gently)
- periodicly wipe the surface down with the sponge.
3rd.
- (optional) i used a clay bar and got everything off the surface of the paint.
- wax the car in that area don't be shy lather it up, i used a buffer so if you don't have one your hand may hurt because you will have to put about 4 layers of wax down to be safe.
