Default 04 Neon Reving while idle

The other day I was stopped at a red light when all of a sudden my car jerked forward a few times. I thought i was read ended or something, but there was no car behind me.
I looked at my display and my rpm's were revving up as if I was tapping the accelerator.

Anyone have any idea what that was? This happened two weeks ago and hasn't happened since. Should I be worried?
Any help appreciated, thanks!

I hear it could be the IAC, mine does this too. As a matter of fact it got so bad one time that I had the break fully depressed and it was still moving

Had a car in the shop doing this the other day (different make) it was the A/C which did not work. When it tried to fire the A/C the clutch did not work and it would try and compensate for the compressor load which did not arrive and then had to recompensate for the actual load. New compressor fixed the problem.

IAC huh? Is this an easy/inexpensive fix? How?
I have noticed that my fuel economy is going down the drain.
Any of this have to do with me installing a CAI that I got off of eBay?
Once again guys, thanks!

Make sure its mounted securely by a rubber gromet or similar, and has clean airflow going around it in your CAI tube. If you think it could be bad, just unplug it and swap it with a new one or spare from somewhere else (another car, scrapyard, etc). If you think it may be related to the CAI itself, check for vacuum leaks somewhere around the CAI from the filter all the way to the throttle body, maybe even a vacuum leak around the IAT itself... or look for a restriction of some sort... but vacuum leaks could definitely cause this too.

Alright, thanks guys. As soon as I get my Jack back, I'll look over the CAI completely, as well as the IAC.
Speaking of, I saw an entire CAI in the emergency lane on the freeway tonight. All I saw was the Red tube and filter. If anyone's missing their intake, it's at the Fair Oaks exit from the 110, lol

I had this problem around the time I put my CAI in. My mom is actually the only who has experienced this the one time she drove my car. The engine light came on and every time she pushed the clutch in it would go to 4000rpm. When she got back i started my car up and nothing. Everything was tight and I drove it and the engine light went off. Never had the problem again. Some people say it was just because it was really cold or something...idk, i blame her bad driving.

Never let your mom drive your car.
