can anyone show me how to take my struts off so i can tighten them up?
I have a 03 neon sxt and i got lowering springs. I didn't have the necessary tools to install so i asked a buddy and he did it for me. Problem is he didn't tighten the struts on the rear and they rattle. i know how to tighten it but i cant take out the struts easily. can anyone give pics and on how to take them out. Tahnks
Tighten what up? the problem, is most likely that the lowering springs are to short for your stock struts. Thus alowing the spring to rattle around inside the strut.
Dod your friend use a spring compressor to re install the new springs? if not, than the springs are to small for the strut.

mine doesnt make noise and i didnt use a spring compressor to put them on, only when i took my old ones off. well i dont no if coilovers are diffrent but the car just sits on them the springs on them are so tiney. Why would you need to take them out to tighent them? just jack the car up and tighten the bolt thats inside the car. Or the two bolts at the bottom that hold the whole shock to the weel assembily.
he used a spring compressor and it's not the spring, it has to do with the shaft of the strut needs to be held while tightening i need to kno how to take off the strut
im alittle confused. you want to take it off to tighten it but it has to be on for you to tighten it. You can jack up the car, grab the very top of the strut with a vice grip, id put rubber around it so you dont dig into the strut. that will hold the strut in place so you can tighten the top bolt with out the strut moving. I did it a diffrent way, but using a socket over a smaller socket to tighent it. its hard to explane. But if your going to use the vice grip, id use it as high as possible on the strut b/c if you dig into the strut to low the oil and crap in the strut will come out when it goes up and down and then you will need a new one.
i took that strut out easily and it was easy and took it to a shop to have them tighten it i reinstall it and now it's fine
