Heres a few photos of after I removed the door strips:

3 out of 4 strips were holding back moisture and sludge. This has caused the paint to start bubbling. Great.

Well trust me, I aint going to let the pics lie about it... the bubbles are all about 1mm in diameter and raised up and one after another, almost like running your fingers across the skin of a tiny toad... just bumpy and gritty.

Well like I said above, Im pissed. Im glad I took them off now and found the problem before it got worse, but it really pisses me off now that I have this bumpy paint spread down both sides of the car. Until I come up with a good solution, its really going to bother me.

If you suspect it is just the paint you can wetsand it.

I know, but I want the sun to hit it for a while and give it a chance to breathe and dry out... I dont want to try wetsanding or soft-ironing it if its going to cause the bubbles to flake off and expose the primer or metal.

Maybe they changed the adhesive pattern on them over the years. Who knows. All I know is, the adhesive on mine runs the full length of them on the bottom, and literally cups the water/dirt/**** in there and holds it there with nowhere to go... sucks.
