Default RE: fuel mileage

-Just about the same as me, Cattinc. My round trip to work and back is only 15 miles through town. Pretty much the same mileage as you. 23-25 mpg. But on the Interstate during vacations, I get anywhere from 32(with the a/c on) to 38 mpg. Just as I've said before.I wish the in-town mileage was higher, but at least I know the highway mileage is there when we go on trips. Mine is an '05 SXT with ATX and 32.9k on the clock. At least you know that yourhigher mileage isn't the culprit.

-Well I did a 158 mile round trip today. I filled up before and after. I hit 37.25 mpg. Once again, not too shabby!

Nice to see but I throw out one time fill ups due to the difference in pumps. One may add more fuel than another. Tried topping off on a few to find it was not even on the full llne yet other fill past it no problem. Not saying it was what you experienced.

However I am consistently getting 34.5+ on y daily driving which is mostly a rural state route and then Highway. But I do run in town errand too. Heck Under 35 is bad lately. However in my old place when I would go 5 miles to my old job it was hard to get past about 28.

A good benchmark for this is to fill up the tank slowly at the pump, ALL THE WAY to the top of the neck, without spilling over. Reset trip meter. Drive it down normal, to a 1/4 tank. Fill up again to the top of the neck. Document mileage and gallons put in. Reset trip meter. Drive down to a 1/4 tank. Refill again the same way. Add both tanks of gas together and add total mileage, and divide. Should give you a very accurate idea of how you are doing.

-I see what you're saying, but I've been checking my mileage in all of my cars for the past 25 years byfilling the tank until the second shutoff. There will always be little fluctuations between fillups, but that's the way it goes. Sometimes I check at every fillup and sometimes I'll check after a few tanks. I usually run within 2-3 MPGof my averages using both ways.

-Ok, why is the forum adding extra commas to my typing? I'vecorrected them using the edit button and they show again when the page reloads.

DF is still suffering from the damage done by a world-wide virus that swept through the net. The entire forum is scheduled to be updated any day now.

-Good enough. It's also taking about 5-6 times for me to successfully make a post. That must be the issue.
