NEW Official 2nd-Gen Off-topic Thread
Damn where have I been...
Yup i think its 260hp and the same for torque. I don't like the rearend at all on the coupes, i rather have the sedan rear. I admit its not the best thing but thats what they make body kits for, if their are any that don't look to ricey....
Hmm yup indeed they are 260 hp now, with help from a TURBO... nice, the original SS's were only SC'd from a relatively over-rated blower. I see they rate it at 14.1 in the quarter mile though... that wouldn't be any better than the 04-05 SRT4... it must either weigh more and/or have worse gearing or something. But I agree there are already nice things happening with the Ecotec motors... they have been around for almost a decade now ya know.
Yeah. Someone I work with was driving one around a few weeks ago. It looked decent. Interior looked similar to the neon. I didn't get a ride in it so I don't know how quick it is. But with that kind of power it has to be similar to what the srt4 is. I still think dodge is retarded for doing away with the neon. They could be selling the neons right now like they are going out of style with the gas mileage they are capable of.

A good part of the reason you don't see a big difference from the SSTC to the SRT-4 1/4 miles times is more due to the fact that Dodge under rates there power numbers. So the numbers they claim are the numbers to the wheels. By the time the SSTC loses power through the drivetrain its probably close to the stock SRT-4.
The EcoTec is a great motor... I remember an article about a boosted one bench tested at 1000hp. Although it had to be rebuilt after only a few runs on the engine dyno.
Also the 2.4l in the SRT-4 is a 10 year old design as well.
see you guys later, im heading out to www.nationalpike.com right now. i can already smell the diesel.
