would boosting my sohc rather than doing the swap be a quality alternative??

not really. if you had a 00-02 i would say possibly. However the computer between yours and mine are different. You comp eliminates the performance gains more than mine to stay fuel effeicent. We had a former member graphite who i think got 280 something going turbo and freerider who i havent see forever was trying to get in that range. I think that is why dtj is able to get 400 cause his is an 02. So for you i would say a swap is more reasonable

So changing my cpu isnt an option to get the full gains out of the turbo?? If its even possible...Does that mean adding headers, exhaust system and/or any other performance parts make the results be limited as well??

U have to get a different computer system, such as ms... u can not run a turbo set up for that much power with ur stock ecu.. reliablility will not be the best for a 2.0 either, UNTILL u get it tuned properly.... i have been stuck on the side of the road once, due to me messing with settings and hitting the safc wrong.. also oil leaks, was a big problem for me... was a pain in the *** for a while.... got everything fixed and i was happy....

i have built my turbo setup, peace by peace, and i have about three thousand in it, just to give u an idea... it took me around a year to put together... that does not include the headwork, or bottom end and tranny that will be done to it in the near future... i honestly am looking at around a 8k drivetrain when it is all said and done... will it be worth it???? i sure hope so...

by u can not run a turbo on ur car without an aftermarket setup i was meaning big power such as 400. and it be realiable, u do not need a ms or safc to run low boost 5-8psi.... anything after that i would recomend some kind of management system..
