the bottom end is the same as the second gen 2.0s but that is it, the head is different.... u can put a stock neon head on a bottom end of a eclipse engine and u are set, the HEAD is what is different on the long blocks....

Yako, if thats your new car, you are my idol. I love 240's with the s15's front end, you got the sr20det in there of just the stock ka24de?

so what do the 04 sxt engines come with, are they the bottom of the line engines that dodge offered,is it worth it to put any amount of money into the engine or buy another type of car to go fast?

Nice color car, pasgaines

And if I am not mistaken, there were some design changes in the bottom end of our 2.0's over the years... I know the original 2.0's used to have some tolerance issues around the mains, which would make them more prone to "crank walk"... for those who are not aware, that's when the crankshaft actually slides from one end of the motor to the other... not a good situation, especially for those who had MTX's. I am not sure which year it was resolved though...

to dt:i have thoght about a turbo and have found one online for 5k,i think that is a bit much plus have someone who knows what they are doing install it and what about reliability to the stock internals i wouldn't think they would hold up to long.and the engine swap would probaly be better and cheaper but i am still paying on my car lol.any other ideas

5k for just a turbo? That's way too steep. For $5k, you can do a full SRT4 swap.

EDIT: I just deleted a lot that I wrote here... in short, if you want to keep the 2.0 and still turbo it and get a significant amount of power out of it, there is a LOT of reading and research you might want to do beforehand...

I understand you are still making payments, but especially if you have NGC, I hope you do realize that going with any significant power-making turbo on the 2.0 will turn out being at least just as much, if not more work than just doing the SRT4 swap... either way, the bank wouldn't be more angry with you I don't think, since both will leave you very far from original under the hood.
