Default Crane #12 cam

What kind of benefits would i get from putting in a crane #12 cam in my SOHC. Its a 2004 SXT 5 Speed. Mods already, Trubenz 2.5 inch cat back, aem cold air intake, prothane motor mount inserts, head shaved.

it will help, thats one of the mods you will feel the most benifit from. If you plan on doing any more mods, ie. turbo, intake manifold, exhuast header, I would suggest the #14. The idle will be a little rougher, but there will be more of a benifit.

But can you feel the #14 through the whole powerband? I heard it's out of the useable range for a stock reving engine.

It is somewhat out of the range, but you still feel the same power gains in the pwerband of a stock motor compared to the #12, and when you upgrade the internals, to get the higher RPM's, you don't have to replace the cam again.

I have never heard of anyone having problems. Other than a timing belt going at 60,000 miles. I am planning on putting the #14 in mine this spring, if I don't get an srt-4. I am debating between saving money and having a 98 sleeper or having the new car and being flat broke.

Do the sleeper , thats what my brother did. His 98 SOHC will run a 14.3 all motor. Tons of headwork and all bolt ons. It'll surprise alot of cars. You wouldnt expect a lowly 2 door purple neon to pull like that.

Yeah I want to, but I am sick of ratles and noises, I want a new car. I might buy the srt-4 and keep it stock and work on the 98.

I'd give a lung for the srt-4 but insurance is deadly for me. It would be $428 a month compared to my 287 a month for my '04 sxt.
