The Crane 12 would be fine if u add a turbo in your car. The 12 spools the turbo faster for quicker boost and response. The 14 is for a Radical Street/Drag Race profile.

Cam 12: RPM range: 1,500 - 6,800
Cam 14: RPM range: 2,500 - 7,500

Of course the 14 wouldn't be as drivable. It's your preference.[&:]

 

What exactly does a cam do? I have a 2001 se, and im not planing on making it turbo just because i dont see the point in dumping 3500 into a car that is only valued at like 4500. but i love my car and want to make it quicker and faster...so i was thinking about the crane #12 cam since that seems to be the popular choice if your not going turbo, so what will it increase? will it help with acceleration? how much work has to be done to install it? do you have to pull the engine?

ps: i finally got my girl to trade in her 01 civic for a 04 sxt thank god, the civic was junk imo leaky trunk horrable ride ect..all things i neglected to tell the dealership when i traded it in if i had the money when i got my neon i would have went with an sxt as well, but was just to much at the time. i was only 17, but now i only pay 180 a month for my car so i can save my pennies and get my srt4 some day

 

An upgraded cam improves your power in the upper rpm range. U have to raise the engine to install it. Yes it will improve your acceleration significantly. An upgraded cam will help u reach your top speed way quicker too.
