Hi neon fans, I told you I'm be visiting once and a while. My son has the 2001 neon now. Code 0456 leak in evaporative system. I have cleared the code many times and just put a new gas cap on and the same thing happens.
After a week or so it's back. What else could it be if not the fuel cap???

it could be a leak in evaporative system, other than the gas cap.

ck all your evap lines from the purge valve to the canister look for cracks at the rubber hoses you will need it in the air to do this so you can get a good look you are looking for a small leak . p0456 is small evap leak if you have no lines leaking you may have a bad leak detection pump. at the deale we can force the ldp test for med and large leaks but not small but for the car to run the test it needs to be over 1/4 tank of gas and less than 3/4 to run the test while you are driving

 

check the gas cap first... then teach your son how to pump gas, then tell him to stop beatin on it :-D YAY! hehehehe jk btw well cept for the start at the gas cap part :-D
