Wow Who knew it would take so long!
Well today I decided to save drive time, gas and wait time on an oil change. I already have 6 qts of synthetic,an oil filter, an oil drain pan,and an empty garage. So I though I would do it myself. Little did I know that the shop who did my last change did a real number on my drain plug pretty much rounded it off somehow. A wrench wouldnt even go onto it. so I grabbed the vicegrips and the hammer and tried that, Didnt work. So I broke out the dremel and put 2 flat edges on the bolt, put the cresent wrench on it. Didnt work. So I ended up just taking the dam oil pan off the engine and Dremeling 2 flat edges on the large shoulder of the bolt and clamping the vicegrips back on and using the hammer again, that did the trick. So all in all an oil change that should have taken me 15 minutes, took me 2 and half hours of frustration in a garage that was about 105 degrees. needless to say there are now 5 beers missing out of my fridge and a big a$$ scrape on my arm from a zip tie, but the oil change is done. And oh yea Autozone is the only one that stocks a drain plug for a neon. Heres a pic of what the bolt looked like when I got through with it.
And a side note, While I was under the car I noticed that my lower motor mount insert was torn to $h!t so I ordered a set of Prothane race inserts from www.modernperformance.com should be here wed or thurs. that'll be another hour or so in the garage and another 6 pack.
