DON'T EVER just hand tighten the drain plug. you must use a 13 mm 6 pt. wrench and it's suppose to be torqued at i believe 13 ft. lbs. or you make sure it is snug with the wrench, if you do not have a torque wrench. otherwise it will leak if not tightened properly or if to tight you will strip the threads.

I would hope that no one around here has been doing that...

yea pretty much what I said.lol 13 ft lbs is barely a flex of the wrist.

1. Um, why are you responding to yourself in your own post and quote?

2. It's not 13 in/lbs, it's 13 ft/lbs... huge difference there. Like I said, do not just hand-tighten. Use a wrench or socket, but do not overtighten either for above reasons. But just using your fingers is not good enough.

For those of you who were curious, if you can't tell the difference between too tight and too loose, maybe ask a mechanic or someone to show you instead.
