Thanks for all the replies.

I don't think it could be the trunk weatherstrip or the tail light seals, the car is parked nose angled up. I am leaning more toward back glass seal or a rear door seal. It looks like this has happened before - she just bought car - because the rear seat has some water stains in basically the same area as where the seat was wet.

Well even with the trunk seal messed up it could cause wetness. Like freerider said just go out to the car. Put one person inside and one out spraying the car with water. Make sure the pull the seats down to look in the trunk.

You guys are GOOD!!! Was the tail light gaskets. I gutted the whole interior, put a running hose on the roof and just watched the water dribble in from both tail lights. I have ordered new gaskets and I am going to put a big 'ol bead of sealant around the opening too. Electrical problems seem to be cured also.

Thanks again.

Well the tail lights are sealed up for sure but now I see the trunk weatherstrip is leaking so I guess I have to spend the $70 for that. This was once a rental car and the stripping is all torn up from suitcases.

Default Water Leak in Neon

My daughter has an 01 Neon that had similar problems. I replaced the trunk seal first. That was not the problem. It turns out that these cars have a problem with the gasket that seals the tail light assembly. Don't bother trying to use silicone to seal the leak it wont work. Go to your Dodge dealer and get the replacement gaskets the cost under $8.00 a piece. One dealer told me that the gaskets can't be bought without the full tail light assembly. BULL S*&#. I went to another dealer in Hamburg, NY, Towne Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep. They ordered the parts for me.

This should do the trick for you too.

Got a part number on that gasket? Might help the people who need this fix.

Default Gasket Part Numbers For Neon Tail Lights

Here are the part numbers. They fit a 2001 Neon. I would assume they fit all 2nd Gen Neons.

1-05303476AB

1-05303477AB

As I said they were less than $8.00 each. The problem with the the gaskets is they dry rot so they don't seal as they should and trying to seal them with silicone doesn't help.

the numbers will be different for the 03-05 neons. The ones above are ok for 00-02 ones
