Dust Covers for new struts
Just curious..... Im gonna be getting my new struts to finally complete my lowering kit. Ive bought basically the complete setup piece by piece. So far I have Eibach Sportline lowering springs, All four new KYB strut mounts front and rear camber kit and KYB Blue struts. I am waiting for my "spring seats". Now I was just curious if it is needed to purchase new dust covers since Im not taking the factory assembly apart or did everyone just install them as is. Also I noticed in my manual there is a piece of a "bump stop" but it is mounted between the strut mount and spring seat not the one for the front springs that came with the kit?? Any one aware of this as well. Let me know what Im missing so I can be ready to do this before I put it away for the winter. Thanks again
i have the same setup, I took the old dust boots off the original struts and you have to cut the bump stops in order for the proper strut travel. but if you don't want to mess with the old struts, I'm sure you can find new dust boots and new bump stops.
ya i would order the rears, and im not sure which rubber piece you are talking about? there is the spring rubber seats(they sit inbetween the bottom of the strut and the spring itself), and the strut mount that is rubber also(the very top of the strut where the three boltsbelong to hold the top of the strut in there). posts pics if you can
Ok i think i have it figured out. That second bump stop looking thing looks to be part of the spring seats that I have to purchase. Anyway on the eibach bump stop which way did you install them, Flat part in the cup and round part up towards the top? And do they sell rear bump stops. I have a bit of weight with the music so I figured I would get those as well. Thanks again for all the help.
The flat part goes in the cup. and I'm not quite sure if they sell just rear bump stops. i just reused mine.
