Default Exhaust question

Ok, havnt been on here in a while but hope everyone has been good. was wondering if wince the stock neon exhaust piping is 2.25" is it bad to throw on a 2" fart can? I had my vibrant on for a few weeks, but it just isnt loud enough and dont know what to do to get it deeper. The can i have is obnoxious and actually has a good tone and gets me good gas mileage, but was worried about the whole backpressure conflicts or whater for the can being smaller diameter. thanks!

well from my exhaust i can say that mines loud and it has a deep tone to it as well.im pretty sure my piping is 2.5" then i took my cat converter off and i also have a 4" outlet muffler which makes it sound really loud. but not anoying loud like most honda peoples got.

i remember when i had just my stock pipes with the muffler it wasnt loud at all.
but u should try getting new exhaust piping then removing cat converter if u want and stick one of these on there

when I had my sxt I did a 2.5 inch cat back with a 2 chamber flowmaster, single in dual out to give it that R/T or SRT look, it sounded great, not to loud and had a nice deeper tone to it. Now when I put on a header and a straight through down pipe its gets loud. I only thing if you are going to increase up to a 2.5 get mandrel bend pipe, it flows 100x better then the regular cheap pipe that you can buy. I know a site that has 2.5 cat back, single or dual exit for $120 + s/h and its mandrel bend. If you want the site let me know. Dont put a fart can on it they always sound really bad.

That fart can is a peice o poo. If you want it deeper go bigger not smaller(I mean whole exhaust not just muffler), smaller will make it sound like a damn honda with a 6" pipe on the back...think about it, the smaller the diameter the faster the air flows, meaning the higher the tone coming out the back.

Take from the SRT-R/T, duals out the back with maybe a cat delete to give it that tone your looking for. I bought the ebay catback exhaust and removed the cat with just a straight pipe. It's not too loud cause the muffler still has the baffles and it's nice and low. 2 tips+stock or bigger piping= lower tones.

Trust me, if you fart can it, you might as well can it.

I wouldn't go much bigger than 2.5" piping on a basic 2.0.

just saying my input that mufflers dont sound bad,the only reason they sound bad is cause most people think its cool to add it to a stock exhaust and thats what gives it a bad rep.like i said mine sounds great with my exhaust setup and i also have an intake so it sounds a little louder cause of it but in reality using a muffler on a stock piping isnt good at all. wish i had my video camera to show u guys it doesnt sound bad like most people say.

Don't get me wrong, I like your neon either way. Just never was a fan of those exhausts....or spoilers. They fit some cars that are modified(like yours) but around here...I even see brand new Saturns and honda's and even Focuses with only a the biggest fart can they can find on it, and maybe once in a while I'll see a totally stock car with an 8foot spoiler on the back(Silver Stock 03 Saturn Ion? I see roaming around my town every once in a while).

And the odd time you get people who make fun of those people by "pimping their cars with wood and the such.

One guy made a full bodykit and a spoiler for his car out of frigging cardboard and tape and I seen him many a times in about a months period.

Another kid I see driving around has a little green hatchback with a frigging snowboard as a spoiler(And it's not just any green...it's roller painted on green).

its cool man i know what you mean by the people who try to fix their car up or whatever we call it theres like millions of hondas here in town that think they are cool and fast and they look bad and they sound terible cause of the exhaust.

but yeah unless u get a complete exhaust then its not worth getting a muffler.

and yeah most people tell me that about my wing too.

My car is deep and decently loud. I cut the muffler off and put a 2' long angle cut tip that has a 3.5" exit. Here's a sound clip so that you can here it for yourself. I can only do a 3800 rev since it's an auto but you get the idea.
